Harajuku is an area renowned for fashion since the 1970's, having many of the designers and creators opening their office in this area. The eccentric fashion by the young people had started in the late 1970's, after the start of vehicle free street from Harajuku station to Yoyogi park. Ever since the Harajuku area is the place where you can be yourself, show yourself off, and wear what you want to wear. The restaurants in this area are mostly aimed at the young generations, and you will find most popular food by the young people in Japan. But they are mostly cafe rather than restaurants, and sweets rather than lunch or dinner. But still, you can find some really competitive ramen, curry, and gyoza restaurants in this area.
