Kyomachi Koishigure is one of the rare restaurants in Japan where you can experience the real traditional scene of the old town of Kyoto, so called Kyomachi.  The fantastic red lanterns and the wooden Gojo bridge between the green bamboo trees that were set in the center of the floor welcoming you at the entrance are absolutely beautiful and fascinating which makes you want to walk around for a while and take photos.  The food in Kyomachi Koishigure, on the other hand, are mostly very healthy lightly flavored Kyoto style and they are indeed surprisingly delicious.  The recommendations here are Sushi (salmon, salmon roe, sea urchin, tuna), Five types of sashimi, Bagna Cauda with fresh vegetables from Kyoto, Beef sinew in miso stew served with garlic toast, Kyoto style pickles, eel with cooked white rice in hot green tea, and perhaps varieties of Matcha (green tea) dessert to finish your perfect meal.  The impeccable staffs that are very polite and well trained would also add satisfaction to your precious moment in Japan.  The restaurant that is creating an astonishing ambience of the traditional Kyoto with splendid Japanese food always make your friends and families on your table happy with full of surprises.  When you are visiting Shinjuku, make sure to meal here.

Ryoumano Sora Bettei (龍馬の空 別邸) in Shinjuku

Ryoma no sora Bettei
Ryoma no sora Bettei

For those who are not familiar with the Japanese history, you may want to remember our all time hero, Sakamoto Ryouma, who fought for the country during the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate which is the end of Edo era in the late eighteen hundreds, so called Bakumatsu. Whatever it may be, without him, we wouldn't have survived against the civilized European Powers at that time, to say at least, and that is how he got famous, who has done something incredible in the history of Japan.

Ryouma no Sora Bettei is a themed restaurant that focuses on those closing days of Edo era and Ryouma being a main character, creating a splendid ambience of its chaotic late eighteen hundreds of Japan. You will find some statues of Ryouma and Shinsengumi samurai with the swords right next to Bakumatsu style private rooms where you can have their exceptional tempura, the Hachikin brand chickens and lightly roasted bonito from Tosa where Ryouma was born. The healthy bowl of Nabe on the other hand that make you pleasantly warm is also good to have along with Kaientai's fresh raw sashimi. The quality of the food was really high especially for the themed restaurant where it also focuses on entertaining customers, which we were supremely impressed.

It may surely be an exciting place to visit especially if you are a first timer of Japan who wants to experience something really Japanease.  Ryouma no Sora Bettei is a restaurant with full of historical entertaining displays and decorations that also serves exceptional Japanese food.

You should definitely order one (美明豚48時間熟成の骨付きロース炭火焼き in Japanese) for yourself which costs 1480 yen when you come to Berusaiyu.  There are many other spectacular meat prepared in this restaurant which many locals never stop loving.  The legendary grilled golden pork (幻の金華豚のグリル) which costs 1580 yen is also an excellent choice for you.

The restaurant serves the excellent modern Japanese cuisines with fantastic wines and Japanese sake to be paired. You may want to try their Zaou Beef Sirloin Steak from Miyagi Prefecture (2,500yen) baked with hot pebbles. It is so tender and beautifully prepared with a remarkable depth of flavor. If you are looking for a fish cuisine, the baked fatty Japanese sable fish (1,000 yen) is just exceptionally good. Once you try their top quality sable fish, you will never see fish dishes the same way again. The Daisen brand chicken from Tottori Prefecture cooked with black pepper and kombu salt (1,380 yen) is also a standout dish in this restaurant which you may want to try.  As you can see, most of the dishes in Kakurebou are quite reasonably priced for the quality of food.
